Massages offered at A Healing Touch Therapeutic Massage, Inc.
Swedish Massage
A vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Deep strokes are used to manipulate the soft tissue and surrounding fascia of the body. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendonitis.
Deep Tissue Massage
Treatment using slow strokes with direct pressure and/or friction. Using a deeper pressure allows the therapist to access the deeper layers of muscles. This type of therapy is best used for nerve compression or impingement, such as sciatica or symptoms of radiating pain, numbness or weakness in extremities.
Integrative Therapy
Blend of Swedish, Deep Tissue, Reflexology and passive stretching. It is the most common type of therapy that I use at A Healing Touch, because it is an all encompassing therapy that helps to look at the entire body and treat not only the symptoms but the cause as well.
Other conditions that may be improved with these types of therapies include but are not limited to: Fibromyalgia, Myofascial Pain Syndrome, Frozen Shoulder Syndrome, "tennis elbow", "golfer's elbow", Chronic Low Back Pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Spondylolisthesis, Scoliosis (curvature of the Spine), Multiple Sclerosis (not during flare-up), Muscular Dystrophy, Pinched Nerve, Nerve Entrapment, Sciatica, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Cerebral palsy, Paralysis
Hot Stone Therapy
Basalt lava rocks are heated to the perfect temperature to allow for a deeper relaxation. Using the combination of heat and therapeutic massage allows the muscle tissue to melt and increase the blood flow to the area, alllowing the blood to carry away any built up toxins that reside in the muscles. This is definitely a stress reducing massage. Hot Stone Therapy is an ancient technique, once used by Native Americans, providing a deeply relaxing, healing, detoxifying and, some say, spiritual experience.
Massage for People Living with Cancer
This massage is based on a seminar given by Gayle MacDonald. When people are going through treatments for Cancer friends and family may tend to be afraid to touch them. Afraid they may hurt them in their weakened state. I have been able to educate families on how to help their loved one get through this trying time using massage. While volunteering at Presbyterian Cancer Center I was able to reach many patients who were so happy with just a foot rub or a light back massage. To give them their basic humanity back was the best therapy. To give them the natural and most fundamental of healing, the sense of touch and being touched, without fear or apprehension. Permission from a physician is recommended for massage for people living with Cancer. This light bodywork could be prescribed in conjunction with other interventions for many of the physical discomforts of cancer and its treatment, such as, insomnia, nausea, fatigue, muscular tension and emotional or mental distresses.
Fertility Massage
This massage is given to women prior to conception. It prepares the body for the coming ten months. It also helps couples having trouble conceiving by using pressure points and cleansing the body of toxins and scar tissue that may be preventing conception.
Pregnancy Massage
This massage focuses on the needs of the mother and her everchanging body throughout the pregnancy. Massage during the last few months allows bonding between the child growing within and the mother.
Post-Partum Massage
This massage concentrates on stimulating the healing process after delivery and returning some chi energy lost during delivery.
Newborn Massage
A wonderful experience for new parents to bond with their newborn and stimulate growth and development at the same time. It reduces colic and stimulates nerve development. It also helps while learning the baby's reactions, expressions and changes as they grow.
Raindrop Technique
An assortment of Young Living oils are used to boost the immune system and detoxify the body. Seven different aromatic oils are showered onto the back creating a very relaxing state for the body. Hot compresses are used for the back followed by stretches for the neck and back.
